Wise men still seek Jesus!

Matt. 2: 1-12    Is the story of the Wise men who came from the East to find the new King.  To seek means to search carefully by making an effort, to investigate what one is looking for.  We can't find Jesus our King without making an effort daily.  You may say, I have already found Him, but remember there is much you still do not know about Him.  Think about these 3 wise men and how earnestly they sought to find him.  They left there homeland and travelled through dangerous lands, they risked their lives by not obeying Herod's request, they knew the season was right for Him to be born, they put action to their faith and they weren't even Jews but were Gentiles, they wanted to worship Him and ask for nothing in return. Matt. 7: 21-28 Jesus taught about what he considers a wise man to be in the New Testament times.  Text would be verse 24  Whoever hears my sayings and does them, I will liken him to a wise man, who built his house on the rock: and the rain descended, the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house, and it did not fall, for it was founded on the rock. "Christ is the rock of our salvation"    Then Jesus describes what he considers to be a foolish man.  verse 26 but everyone that hears these sayings and does NOT do them will be like a foolish man who built his house on the sand: and the rain descended, the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house; and it fell.  And great was the fall. (sand represents the world)  The characteristics of a wise person in Jesus eyes are as follows.   1. He is their first love. 2. His will is more important than anything.  3.  They obey the Word not just hear it and gain knowledge. 4. They win souls.  5.  They work out their own salvation with fear and trembling. 6. They walk in love and are peacemakers.  7.  They watch their words.  8. They hate evil not people.  9.  They fear God not man.  10.  They know the season they live in and redeem the times for they are evil.  11.  They witness and testify.  12. They forgive and do not hold grudges. 13.  They trust God not people. 14. They no longer love the world or the things in it. 15. Never boasts in self but in Christ.  16. Esteems others better than themselves. 17. They have pure motives.  18.  They no longer live unto themselves and have relinquished all rights to Christ.  Does this describe us?  Ps. 63:8 My soul follows hard after you, Lord.  (makes great effort)  Are we following the Bright and Morning STAR until we find Him? Jer. 29:13 And you will seek me and find me, when you search for me with all your heart.  "We are about to enter a new year so lets think about making more effort than ever before to find Jesus in a deeper way and have Him say we are like the Wise men from the East."  For Wise People still seek Jesus. Amen
