Only Believe

I am reading the book of John again because I love the way he writes about Jesus.  When I came to the story of Lazarus I stopped at verse 40 to think about what Jesus said to Martha.  Jesus had ordered the stone to be rolled away and she said he has been dead four days and there will be a stench.  Evidently she wasn't believing for a  miracle and remember Jesus had told her, He was Resurrection Life also.  Here is what He said and I'm sure it was said with authority.  Didn't I tell you that if you would believe you would see the glory of God?  I wonder if we are not seeing miracles, signs and wonders often because we are a little like Martha?  In John 6:29 Jesus answered a nd said to them, "This is the work of God, that you believe in Him whom He sent." In Matt. 9:28 And when He had come into the house, the blind men came to Him.  And Jesus said to them, Do You believe that I am able to do this?  Over and over again Jesus was telling people all they had to do was believe or He would ask them if they did believe.  Remember how Jesus was amazed at the faith of the Roman Soldier, this man knew all Jesus had to do was speak a word.  We need faith like this when we read the Word of God and when we pray.  Martha got to see Resurrection Power raise a dead man after four days.  What are you believing for?  Are your loved ones lost, are you sick, are you overwhelmed, are you wounded and broken hearted, have you given up hope, is your past tormenting you?  Well, then don't be like Martha know that it is written Mark 9:23  Jesus said to him If you can believe all things are possible to him who believes.  Jesus hasn't and can't change and he can't lie so may we all have increased faith.  Somebody reading this is about to give up because they have waited a long time, well go to the Word and see a whole lot of people had to wait a long time but the answer finally came.  Don't give up, He may be the slowest man I ever knew but He is right on time!  Think about it!
