The Importance of Obedience

Think about it! Rom 5:19; 6:16 Christ’s obedience in
me.
Ps 40:8; 37:4; John 4:34
Delight to do His will. Gladly obey His word.
All sin comes from rebellion to the
word of God.
Christ’s life of obedience had a 3
part purpose and goal for us:
He came to be an example of true obedience.
He came to be our surety, to fulfill all righteousness
for us thru His obedience.
He came to be our Head to prepare a new and obedient
nature in us.
II Peter 1:3-4 No excuse, we
have His life in us – His Spirit – divine nature of Christ.
Rom 6:12-13 Paul said to us “don’t
allow sin to reign, yield yourselves to God.” Every member – mind, soul, body.
Our responsibility. Are you servants of obedience? God’s gift of
righteousness to us thru salvation is the power to obey. You are not one
with Christ when you live a disobedient life.
Obedience alone made Christ the
object of the Father’s love and as a result He became our Redeemer.
John 10:17-18; 14:21-23
Obedience to God’s word – gateway to life in Him. Obedience – a life’s
principle. Accountable to walk in the light you have. Blessings for
obedience. Curse for disobedience.
John 6:38 I came not to do My
own will. Heb 10:9 I came to do Thy will oh God.
Single, supreme, all controlling
power of Jesus life was obedience. Read Matt 12:50
John 4:34 My meat is to do the
will of Him that sent Me. His hunger was satisfied by obedience.
David meant the same (Ps 19:10
Sweeter than honey and the honeycomb)
Jesus gladly waited for the Father,
to do His will. Day by day His will was revealed. As He obeyed, He
grew in power, each lesson as He obeyed prepared Him for a more difficult
task. His last assignment was the hardest, but He obeyed.
Ps 40:6-8 Mine ears have you
opened, I delight to do Thy will, O My God.
God is asking for our full
obedience. Surrender our will for His! Deny yourself, pick up your
cross, and follow Me.
Phil 2:5-8 Allow Christ’s
obedience to be our desire! How important is a life of obedience to God
in your heart?
