John 15- The main four words are Fruit-Love-Hatred-The Comforter

Think about it!  In John 15: 1-8  Jesus speaks concerning fruit.  How humble Jesus is to speak of himself as the true vine. The vine has no beauty on the outside and in Isa. 53:2 it says that Christ had no comeliness (meaning no exceptional looks.)  The vine spreads out and bears fruit as it grows, we are to spread the gospel and then those told are to spread it even farther to the ends of the earth.  From a vine we see branches and from branches we see fruit budding. The church is the branch and the word here says if the branch doesn't bear fruit it is cut off. He promises to prune the branch so that it can bear more fruit and that we must abide in Christ to be fruitful.  To be fruitful we must deny ourselves and obey the Word of God and walk in His Spirit and be led by the Spirit.  We must walk in faith and not in sight in order to bear fruit.  Gal. 5:22-23 The fruits of the Spirit are love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, meekness, temperance (self-control.)  If we are to bear fruit for Christ we  must have His disposition which is described here in these two verses. Now think about how He has worked in your life to develop His character, are we not called to be conformed to His image.  He is completely other than we are said Austin Sparks and how right he is, nothing in our sin nature is like Christ.  He has to purify our hearts and if we don't allow the work of the Holy Spirit then we become dead branches and are cut off from the true vine.  Go back over the list of the nine fruits of the Spirit and be honest, are they being formed in your life?  Focus on the ones you know are not yet developed and get alone with Christ and talk about it asking for grace to yield to the work of God in your life.  Sometimes we just don't pay attention to our growth in Christ Jesus and we are remaining more carnal than we might have thought.

Think about it!
